Celebrating Phil HobbsThe world lost a very special person. Phil Hobbs sadly passed away while on his dream sailing holiday in Greece on the 19th September 2009, aged 25 years. Phil has been fighting cancer for the last few years and he astounded everyone with his determination to beat his illness and not let it deter him from his love of the outdoors. He took every opportunity to wring every last drop of fun & happiness out of his short time left. Sailing was very close to Phil's heart, learning the basics with the Pinner Sea scouts, and many years at Hillingdon Outdoor Activity Centre sailing with Bert, his instructor & mentor. This progressed in the last few years to yacht sailing in the Solent and him gaining his day Skippers in July which meant he could do his dream holiday of skippering a yacht, with Sarah his partner, in the Greek islands. Phil sadly died while he was enjoying one of his great loves. Sarah & Phil's family have chosen Sail 4 Cancer as a charity to support in Phil's memory as sailing was very special to him. It was closely linked with Phil's work at Salford Watersports centre and it will help to provide more sailing opportunities to those affected by cancer. Many thanks. For further information:
